During what seemed like a pleasant evening, Sagawa suddenly made a disturbing request. He asked Renée if he could cut a piece of flesh from her body and eat it. He shot Renée in the head, instantly killing her. But the horror did not end there. After her death, Sagawa sexually assaulted her body, then proceeded to cut it into pieces. After three days, he packed the remaining body parts into two suitcases and planned to dispose of them in a nearby lake. Sagawa was arrested, and during interrogation, he explained his horrifying actions, stating that if Renée had agreed to let him taste a piece of her flesh, none of this would have happened. He shockingly claimed that he didn’t want to kill her, but was forced to because of her refusal.
